These terms apply to Wrench, the all-in-one workshop tool (formerly known as 13-Spanner). This document is a working draft and will be reviewed by a qualified attorney before public launch.
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Wrench (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
2. Description of Service
Wrench is a progressive web application that enables independent mechanics and small workshops to manage their daily operations: customer book-in, vehicle inspections, quoting, parts tracking, and customer messaging. The Service includes AI-assisted features powered by third-party providers.
3. User Accounts
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. You must provide accurate information when creating your workshop profile.
4. Subscription
Wrench operates on a single subscription plan: R500 per month, VAT inclusive, covering all features for one workshop, including unlimited mechanics, customers, vehicles and reports.
Wrench is intentionally limited to 1,000 active workshops at any time. Once the cap is reached, new sign-ups join a waitlist and gain access when an existing seat becomes available.
Subscriptions renew monthly until cancelled by you. There are no annual contracts and no per-seat upgrades inside a workshop.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service or its systems
- Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Service
- Use the AI features to generate misleading or fraudulent inspection reports
- Resell, sublicense, or transfer your seat without our written consent
6. Inspection Reports & Quotes
Inspection reports and quotes generated by Wrench are tools to assist qualified mechanics in documenting their findings and pricing their work. The Vehicle Health Index (VHI) score is a weighted calculation based on the mechanic's input and does not constitute a certification or warranty of vehicle safety.
The mechanic is solely responsible for the accuracy of all scores, notes, photographs, line items and cost estimates entered into the system, and for the validity of any quote sent to a customer.
7. AI-Generated Content
AI-assisted checklists are generated based on vehicle specifications and general automotive knowledge. They are provided as suggestions only. The mechanic must review, modify, and validate all checklist items before use. Wrench is not liable for any omissions in AI-generated checklists.
8. Data Ownership
You retain ownership of all data you enter into the Service, including customer information, vehicle details, inspection results, photographs, quotes and estimates. See our Privacy Policy for details on how data is stored and processed.
9. Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. To the maximum extent permitted by South African law:
- We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of the Service
- We are not liable for data loss resulting from device failure, account compromise, or any other cause beyond our reasonable control
- We are not liable for any decisions made based on inspection reports, VHI scores, or quotes generated through the Service
10. Cancellation
You may cancel your subscription at any time from the Settings page. Access continues until the end of the current billing period. Your data remains available for export for 30 days after cancellation, after which it may be permanently deleted.
11. Modifications
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the modified Terms. Material changes will be communicated through the application and via email.
12. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the Service shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.
